In the past 10 years, Tecatel has consolidated its expansion both domestically and internationally. And we have maintained a high priority on strengthening its own research areas, collaborating with universities and technology centers for the design of leading products of the digital TV´s.
Today our products are used by over 100 million users in 30 countries.
1986. The project of three young Valencian entrepreneurs was introduced in Sonimag’86. Tecatel initiated then its activity
1991. Build of the 1st satellite manufactory in Spain.
1997. All the antennas designed and manufactured by Tecatel have passed successfully the INTA (National Institute for Aerospace Technology) homologation tests.
1997. Tecatel is certified as homologated provider for the two Spanish Digital TV platforms, Canal + and Vía Digital, and international´s as Multichoice (Europe and South Africa) and Echostar Inter. Corp (USA and Europe)
1998. Tecatel produced more than 70% of the satellite dish installed in Spain, as per INE (National Institute of Statistics) published report.
1999. TECATEL-PHILIPS Alliance for the Spanish distribution of the SMATV division.
1999. Alliance with Sharp Corp. (Japan) for the distribution in Spain, Portugal and Maghreb Union Countries of convertors for the satellite TV dishes.
2000. Supply of TV equipment for the Spanish Chamber of Deputies.
2001. Supply of TV equipment for the Reina Sofia Museum in the Sogecable building (Canal+, Digital+, CNN, Disney Channel, etc…)
2002. Build and opening of the satellite dishes in Setif, Algeria, which production is being supplied in the Maghreb Union Countries.
2003. Partnership agreement with Futjitsu for the development of the set-top box of the last generation, based on SmartMPEG.
2003. I+D+I plan, with an investment of 2MM euros at the Valencia headquarters ofr the equipment and development of new technologies: receivers design for TDT and satellite.
2004. Collaboration agreement with the UPV (Universidad Politécnica de Valencia) and creation of the Chair UPV-TECATEL.
2006. Creation of the division for the design and component manufacturing for radio frequency
2007. Creation of the IPTV division to develop and implement specifics programs for doctor-patients applications in medical environment, to provide services to guests in hotels, and digital signage in business and industrial sectors.
2009. IPTV equipment and installation with Tecatelmedip in Manises Hospital, the first hospital of the Valencian Community equipped with IP technology.
2010. Tecatel awarded “proactive and innovative company in telecommunication of the Valencian Community” by the Generalitat Valenciana, Valencian City Council, UPV (Universidad Politécnica de Valencia), IMPIVA, C.OI.T., C.E.I.T and E.T.S Telecommunication engineers
