Tecatel provides with its technologies a bedside communication channel between professionals, patients personal and the services provided by the hospital.
With Tecatel Medip all the rooms integrate a touch screen terminal where patients can access a wide range of entertainment and communication services such as: television, radio, IP phone, video conference, email, news, e-books, video club, games, internet… Additionally the hospital can include a wide range of infinite additional services for their patients: Menu selection and dietaries supervision, online courses, inbox messages, shopping in the centre, corporative channel, etc...

Tecatel Medip is not just a device that improve the quality of life of the patient it is also a powerful tool put at professional hands, a bedside side “virtual access”, to all necessary information required for the decision making process. From every touch screen terminal, the physician can access, through identification code, to services such as electronic prescription or medical record.
Tecatel Medip is a technology developed in Spain. During the project execution, which has been co-financed by the European Union, Tecatel benefit from the cooperation of the IMPIVA of different technologic institutes and the UPV (Universidad Politécnica de Valencia)? This supposes a big qualitative step in the digital healthcare, in line with the fixed objectives in the High-Level Ministerial Conference about e-Health 2010.
Last May, Tecatel has been awarded, as a recompense of its entrepreneurial trajectory and its commitment in innovation with the Valencian “Proactive” Company Award during the Valencian Telecomunication event delivered by the Generalitat Valenciana, the UPV and other Institutes.
Son Espases in figures
The Son Espases Universitary Hospital count with a surface of 172.000 square-meter with a capacity for 1.020 medical beds, 26 operating rooms, 107 intensive care units, 40 emergency wards, y 230 doctor´s appointment rooms. With a cost of building works of 235.000.000 Euros and an investment of 85.000.000 Euros, it is the bigger infrastructure ever undertaken by the Government of the Balearic Island (Govern de les Illes Balears).
