Nowadays you can find thousands of analogical modulators operating in Spain which are about to be replaced by digital ones. That is the reason why we decided to design a modulator that could regroups all the performance required by the market. Its revolutionary design has enabled the enhancement of the quality and its performance, reducing the price.
The arrival of COFDM digital modulation supposed an enhancement of image quality and improvement in the performances, with digital information such as EPG and number of channels, etc…
However the existing COFDM modulators have a high production cost due to their structural design, which limit their application and installation to high budget areas of the radio diffusion keeping aside the convenional installation.
With this idea in mind Tecatel I+D+I department , decided that it would be possible to develop a digital modulator 100% functional, including high performances and oriented to satisfy the basic requirements of all telecom installers: audio/video signal modulation in basic band by using the TDT or any IDTV or conventional TV with set top box. The result, the first quality modulator dedicated to professionals (for small or collective installations) at an attractive price, was definitely not a coincidence.
Tecatel DIM has been created in Tecatel laboratories showing clear ideas, including the last design generation, using FPGAs (Field- Programmable Gate Arrays) and high speed convertors to provide an extreme liability, with a high output level of 85 dBµV with MER > 30 dB. With VHF & UHF outputs,7 & 8 MHz channel support, to enable the installer to provide different options to its customers
Therefore the DIM modulator is small in size and easy to program, no external remote control, or extra fittings are required.
In that way and thanks to the use of last generation components we have succeeded in reducing the cost to a fraction of the existing ones, to bring it to market places, improving quality level and performances. Tecatel is putting at installer´s and user´s reach the possibility of adding digital signal in the ICT red in a very easy way and for the users this represent the advantage of being able to use the TDT TV without switching to analogical.
